Some reviews about LG 30 In. Stainless Steel Gas Range - LDG3016ST

1 -

As part of a recent kitchen remodel, they installed an LG oven, the LDG3016ST. After using it now for about a month, the spouse is ecstatic - but he doesn't write reviews as he considers it a waste of precious time better spent at the gym. So, it is left up to me; someone has to do it.
This is a stunning gas double-oven. The outside has a stainless steel look with burners embedded in a shiny, ebony cooktop. The inside of each oven is a dark sky blue as might be seen from a plane at 33,000 feet.
On the left side are the Gigantic & Medium burners, the former in front; on the right are the Additional Gigantic & Small burners, the former in the front. In the middle is an Oval burner, which can be covered with a Griddle. There's left, middle, & right burner grates, each heavy to break toes if accidentally dropped.
The Additional Gigantic burner has a SuperBoil setting on the control knob & is designed to quickly bring gigantic amounts of liquid to a boil. It will accommodate cookware up to ten inches in diameter

Never having used gas burners before, the novelty of hearing the electrical spark ignition system operate when turning a burner control knob to "Lite" is great fun. I am basically amused.

The appliance's Control Panel is divided in to sections: (from the left) Cooking Mode, Display/Timer & Light Controls, & Number Keypad/Start-Clear-Off.

The Cooking Mode section of the Control Panel has a line of horizontal touch pads for both the Upper Oven & Lower Oven.

The Upper Oven has the modes Bake, Broil, Warm, Pizza, & Self Tidy. The Warm function maintains an oven temperature of 170 degrees Fahrenheit for keeping food warm for up to hours after cooking. The Pizza function will automatically preheat the oven to cook either rising crust or regular frozen pizza, & come college (i.e. USC) footy season in September, I will be in Seventh Heaven. Fight On!

The Lower Oven has the modes Conv(ection) Bake, Conv(ection) Roast, Bake, Proof, Self Tidy, Warm, & Favourite. The Proof function maintains a warm oven for rising yeast-leavened foods before baking. The Favourite function stores & recalls up to different settings.

The Cooking Mode section also incorporates the Cook Time & Start Time touch pads.

The middle section of the Control Panel includes the digital Display (which, if nothing else is necessary by the Neanderthal Man who eats only chilled beans out of a can, displays the current time-of-day) & the touch pads for Upper (oven) Light, Upper (oven) Timer On/Off, Lower (oven) Light, & Lower (oven) Timer On/Off.
The right-hand section of the Control Panel includes a number keypad & the touch pads Upper (oven) Clear/Off, Lower (oven) Clear/Off, Start/Oven Lock, Clock, & Setting. The Oven Lock will lock the oven doors & deactivate most of the controls, & will presumably prevent our felines from cooking up a party banquet when we are away. The Setting touch pad allows the user to, e.g. convert regular baking temperatures to their convection equivalents, adjust either oven's thermostat up or down, activate or deactivate the preheat alarm light, adjust the beeper volume, or set Fahrenheit or Celsius as the preferred temperature scale. (Actually, I prefer the Kelvin scale.)

Cleaning the LDG3016ST is a snap. The interiors ostensibly self-clean - something they have not tried yet. (We'll see if Nellie, our periodic housecleaner, approves.) The stainless steel veneer is burnished with any brand of stainless steel wipe, &, in our experience, an ammonia-based glass cleaner works swell on the cooktop.

I like the fact that when an oven temperature is set, the display shows the temperature as it rises to the set point, & then a musical tone sounds. Similarly, when a cooking time is set, the display counts down to zero & the tone. What I find wonderful is that when the desired oven temp is reached, it remains rock steady. Again, I am basically thrilled.

What you DON'T require to do is must replace any of the burner control knobs. The spouse researched what it would cost for a set of, in case. From an authorized LG parts dealer, it comes in at a larcenous $25 PER KNOB.

2 -

After having our LG Gas stove for only a year, the plastic inserts in the stove knobs broke.. four out of five of them. After searching online for replacement knobs, and finding out that they are $84.00 a piece, I would caution somebody about purchasing an LG stove before checking out the knobs. If the knobs have plastic inserts, you may require to cost replacement knobs -- which can only be bought from LG. Our model is an LRG30357ST and there's no off brand replacement knobs.. At $84.00 a piece & needing to replace four of them within a year, they are likely to look at replacing the stove, in lieu of the knobs! Caution.
