We looked at lots of ovens & wanted something that did the basic things & didn't take up much space. No convection (they have a convection oven) & no digital - its a basic appliance. They looked at the B&D 240 but this appeared basic & flimsy. Then they saw this. It's all the basics, it is a lovely, tiny size & its silver / black which matches our kitchen. It's three controls as compared to the basic model w/ two making it simple to choose temp, function & time. The handle is securely attached to the glass door -the metal ends wrap around the glass so it won't fall off a complaint about other ovens. It's a pleasant slide out crumb tray that has access from the front with the oven door close - this makes it simple to empty. Nicely toasted our first bagel in a couple of minutes & it was evenly browned, something our regular toaster did not do well at all.
Pros
Gets hot speedy
Basic controls work well
Simple access crumb tray
Even toasting & heating
Cons
Not plenty of
The top & sides do get hot so don't store anything on this!

When I was looking for a brand spanking new toaster oven to replace that was "toast," I researched every brand. I was willing to pay $100 or more for a lovely, well-designed, quality unit. I doubted that this Black & Decker model could be excellent - the cost was low. But the reviews were lovely & I risked ordering.
When it arrived & I began to make use of it, I discovered that it was well designed. It is compact in size, the ergonomics are excellent. It works well. It jogged my memory of the first toaster oven that I bought in about 1976 which I think was a B&D unit of similar design. I noticed that B&D has refined the model over plenty of years, correcting minor issues & irritations. This works! It cooks well & quickly. It is a pleasure to make use of. When the door is open you do not must risk burning your fingers to reach under the door to grasp the handle. The "keep warm" function works well & will keep items slightly warm or warm. Toast comes out the way I am liking it - but be cautious not to set the timer for long! There is ample room for slices. It heats up quickly. I love the way the pan can slide under the grill to catch drippings - works well with steaks & for reheating slices of pizza. The mechanism that pulls the grill out when the door opens is convenient & remarkably simple for its effectivenss. I love the tiny size - it takes up tiny space on the counter. This is a well-engineered appliance.
The unit appears to be moderately well-made & I imagine that the toaster oven will last physically for a long time. Our experience with our last toaster ovens that the electronic controls burned out or quit long before the body, door etc. was worn out. All of them were still lovely looking & only several years elderly but electrically dead.
Don't be concerned about the low cost - this is of those pleasant situations (for the consumer) where the lowest priced item is well-designed & a pleasure to use

I liked this toaster oven because of it is comparatively tiny size and simple design. The only negative I find is that the control buttons are a bit cumbersome to make use of. For example, in case you need to toast a piece of bread, you need to set each of the buttons on toast. It is also not simple to get the setting for the darkness of the toast in the right place. The oven gets hot so it will basically burn the bread while toasting. To bake something works better but it is still confusing and redundant to set the controls. If I get used to these controls, I think I will be happy with this toaster oven.

I was skeptical to order after reading a quantity of the reviews but I must say I would have been sorry if I didn't give it a try. This toaster oven works well, toast very fast & forget about review saying why three knobs-it is so simple to make use of & the ticking timer not loud & you turn last knob off if completed early so you don't listen to timer. It looks great with all my new stainless steel appliances & doesn't take much counter space.Worth every penny & I had it delivered in days.

You never crave a piece of toast with a little bit of strawberry jam till your toaster oven goes on the fritz & you cannot have. Such was the case with our last toaster oven.
So they were toastless but after reading the reviews on Amazon I could not choose what to buy because none of them sounded that great. I was preparing to put out the bucks for of the bigger, fancier models when I gave it some thought. Most of the bigger, fancier models I had owned, had stopped working after about two years, where as the Black & Decker model I had a while ago had kept on toastin' for some time.
So I opted to go for this cheap Black & Decker model & I am glad I did. Not only is the cost point excellent but it does a great job. Despite being only a four slicer, it is roomy, but it sports a little footprint. The model is also stylish & will go well with any color kitchen.
The dial does must be turned back past the ten & then forward to toast but I prefer simple use over an electronic menu that requires lots of thought. A simple piece of toast does not need to have an elaborate operation behind it.
Lately, I have been eating a rapid English Muffin lunch. slices of turkey on a whole wheat muffin, topped with a slice of swiss. The toaster does an ideal job of melting the cheese & toasting the muffin. Toast a mini waffle with mini chocolate chips for a sweet treat to pair with it, along with a salad. Delish!
Overall, happy with this purchase & enjoying toast & jam again.
